Human Resources Assistant

The Human Resources Assistant manages daily HR tasks in order to assist the HR Generalist, and keeps HR paperwork flowing smoothly for Classical Conversations. The HR Assistant also keeps up with and works on administrative projects when necessary, as well as assists employees with work-related insurance and personnel obligations. They coordinate events for the Corporate Headquarters.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ Years of Human Resources Experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations manual, and written directions
  • Ability to communicate clearly with others
  • Must be able to write with professionalism
  • Must be highly organized, accurate, and able to monitor work for quality
  • Must be dependable, follow instructions, and able to improve performance through feedback
  • Good interpersonal skills and be a good listener
  • Must have access to a vehicle/transportation
  • Must be within driving distance of Southern Pines, NC

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software programs
  • Ability to learn and work with different technology systems (Employee Management, File Storage, Finance)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Detailed and organized.  Able to manage multiple tasks and interactions easily
  • Up-to-date knowledge of laws concerning business and filing
  • Event planning
  • Good conflict resolution skills
  • Basic arithmetic skills

Essential Duties

  • Coordinate the hiring and orientation of employees
  • Monitor eligibility dates for benefits
  • Ensure new employees are set up in the Employee Management System and that a personnel file is created and maintained
  • Update employee information as needed and notify appropriate parties
  • Facilitate the termination process as needed
  • Coordinate all events at the Classical Conversations Corporate office. (Fall picnic, Thanksgiving potluck, Christmas lunch, monthly birthday party, monthly Lunch & Learn, quarterly lunches, health fair, and other events)
  • Send company-wide memorandums for changes within the company such as new employees, available positions, terminations, upcoming events, newsletters, promotions, and general or important announcements
  • Order and schedule lunches for meetings
  • Maintain training and conference room calendars
  • Speak with coworkers regularly to gain a sense of and contribute to the overall morale
  • Provide support to the Corporate HR team and COO as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

  • Sitting in front of a computer for extended periods of time
  • Ability to type at a computer
  • Move/walk in between departments regularly
